The Balearic Islands are an archipelago lying off the east coast of Spain in the Western Mediterannean Sea.

Metereology Spain

Late Autumn and early Spring can see the Vendavales wind blowing hard from the South West, these winds are at their strongest when funnelled through the Gibraltar Strait.

Also in this area the Levante blows from the North East and again will funnel through the Gibraltar Strait, due to the distance this wind may blow over it can create heavey seas.
